The northbound lanes of I-75 have been blocked by a major accident just north of Fowler Ave. involving a pair of tractor-trailer trucks and two passenger cars. Officials has closed the I-75 northbound lanes causing a large traffic snarl continuing for miles and includes the Southbound lanes.
Adding to the slowdown FHP has had to use on of the Southbound lanes to allow the northbound traffic already stuck a route around the accident while the incoming northbound traffic has been detoured to Fowler Avenue.
Florida Highway Patrol has stated the accident was caused near 2.pm.when a semi truck crashed through a jersey barrier wall protecting a construction area. After the truck had broken through the barrier it struck the median and burst into flames killing the driver of the truck.
FHP has not released additional details about the crash yet.
