Hit and Run Kills Pedestrian In St. Petersburg Sunday

St. Petersburg Police are searching for a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian Sunday.

St. Petersburg authorities reported that Jeffrey Carl Remmel was walking on the sidewalk of the westbound lanes of 38th Avenue North. At roughly midnight, Remmel lost his footing and fell into the roadway at the 4400 block and was struck by a vehicle traveling on 38th Avenue North.

The force of the impact was fatal and the driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

Police have said they are searching for a white or silver 4-door sedan and a light colored minivan that was at the scene during the collision, which may have witnessed the accident.
