Head-on Crash In Manatee County Injures Two

A head-on crash on route US 301 in Manatee County resulted in two people suffering serious injuries.

According the the report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at roughly 11:30pp as twenty three year old Zachary Peters from Parrish was southbound on US 301 driving a GMC Sierra pick up truck.

At the same time thirty year old Michelle Lachance also from Parrish was heading north on US 301 driving a Dodge Journey SUV.

As the two vehicles closed on each other near the intersection with Dickey Road, Lachance drifted into to the opposing lane and directly into the path of the oncoming pick up truck.

The two vehicles collided head on, the force of the impact sending them off the roadway.

According the FHP report after crashing into the SUV, the GMC Sierra pick up truck overturned twice and caught fire.

Troopers stated that both Peters and Lachance were seriously injured in the crash, and that the collision remains under investigation.
