According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, an early morning accident in Englewood has killed four.
The report states that at roughly 3:30a.m. four people were eastbound in an Audi A4 sedan on Rosemonte Drive. As the car approached the intersection with Sunnybrook Blvd., the driver of the Audi did not come to a stop at the stop sign, instead they proceeded through the intersection without pause.
At the same time forty three year old Michael Holcomb and four passengers all of which were from Whitesburg Kentucky were driving north on Sunnybrook boulevard.
The northbound vehicle crashed into the Audi in the intersection. Shortly after the collision the Audi caught fire and flames overtook the vehicle quickly.
Authorities pronounced all four occupants within the Audi dead at the scene, while the driver and passengers of the second car only sustained minor injuries and were transported to Englewood Hospital for treatment.
A head-on crash on route US 301 in Manatee County resulted in two people suffering serious injuries.
According the the report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at roughly 11:30pp as twenty three year old Zachary Peters from Parrish was southbound on US 301 driving a GMC Sierra pick up truck.
At the same time thirty year old Michelle Lachance also from Parrish was heading north on US 301 driving a Dodge Journey SUV.
As the two vehicles closed on each other near the intersection with Dickey Road, Lachance drifted into to the opposing lane and directly into the path of the oncoming pick up truck.
The two vehicles collided head on, the force of the impact sending them off the roadway.
According the FHP report after crashing into the SUV, the GMC Sierra pick up truck overturned twice and caught fire.
Troopers stated that both Peters and Lachance were seriously injured in the crash, and that the collision remains under investigation.
Officials from the Florida Highway Patrol reported an accident in Port Charlotte on Kings Highway near the I-75 interchange.
The crash took place as sixty-nine year old Richard Honaker from Punta Gorda was northbound on Kings Highway approaching the intersection with Interstate 75, driving a Chevy Avalanche SUV.
At the same time sixty-seven year old Cynthia Hollon also from Punta Gorda was waiting in the southbound turn lane at the intersection with I-75 in her Nissan Versa.
As the Chevy Avalanche neared the intersection, Hollon attempted to turn left onto the I-75 on-ramp and drove directly into the path of the oncoming truck.
The two vehicles collided, one driver was in critical condition and the other driver was also hurt in the crash.
A report by the Florida Highway Patrol stated a woman has died in a motorcycle accident in Manatee County late Wednesday.
The crash took place as an unidentified woman described by FHP as twenty years old and from Sarasota, was riding a Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on State Road 70 approaching the intersection with 56th Court East.
At the same time twenty one year old driver Chris Marcelin from Bradenton was stopped in the westbound median turn lane with the motorcyclist approaching from the east.
At approximately 10 P.M. Marcelin attempted to make a U-turn and drove his Infinit sedan directly into the path of the oncoming motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist who had been wearing a helmet collided with the car and was fatally injured in the crash.
Troopers have stated the crash remains under investigation.
Florida Highway Patrol officers reported a fatal early morning crash in Englewood Monday.
The accident happened just before 1:30 a.m. as sixty-nine year old William Carlson from Port Charlotte was heading southbound on Medical Drive closing on Medical Boulevard.
Carlson lost control of his Toyota Tacoma full-sized pickup truck, and drove through the intersection at speed before crashing into a ditch and coming to a stop in front of Englewood Hospital.
Troopers said that Carlson had been wearing a seat belt Carlson during the accident. Carlson was taken into the Hospital where medical staff pronounced him dead.
The accident is currently under investigation.
Florida Highway Patrol announced a man was seriously injured in a crash late Friday.
According to the report, the crash took place at roughly 11:30p.m. Friday night as fifty one year old Douglas Cutrona from Bradenton was stopped in the southbound lane of 15th Street East at the intersection with 57th Avenue East. While Cutrona was waiting at the intersection in his Crown Victoria, thirty three year old Victor Martinez was approaching the intersection from behind in a Toyota Camry.
For reasons not reported Vargas did not come to a stop and crashed into the rear of the Crown Victoria, a full-sized sedan.
The force of the collision caused Vargas to sustain serious injuries and first responders transported him to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton for treatment.
Cutrona escaped the accident with only minor injuries and the FHP have stated the accident remains under investigation.
Florida Highway Patrol announced one person was killed and another seriously injured after being involved in a accident with a tractor-trailer in rural Manatee county.
According to the FHP release, the deadly crash took place as forty seven year old truck driver Yamir Pardo from Lakeland Florida was driving a loaded Freightliner heavy truck westbound on SR 62 approaching the intersection with County road 39.
As the Freightliner approached, twenty seven year old Brandy Ibey from Coral Springs Florida arrived at the intersection driving a Volkswagen GTI.
At approximately 7:45 a.m., Ibey attempted to turn left onto State Road 62 from County Road 39 and drove the compact car directly into the path of the oncoming truck.
Pardo swerved the semi to the left in an attempt to avoid the crash, however the two vehicles collided. The force of the collision combined with Pardo’s attempt to turn away from the Volkswagen caused the heavy truck to overturn where it came to a stop on the solder.
FHP officials stated that both the truck driver Pardo, and the driver of the car had been wearing seat belts during the crash. However Pardo was seriously injured and Ibey was killed during the collision despite wearing safety belts.
FHP has stated the an investigation is ongoing.
Florida Highway Patrol Reported a single car crash in Manatee County on University Parkway.
According to the report the accident happened at roughly ten minutes after six in the morning when thirty five year old Walker Abrams from Sarasota was westbound on University Parkway.
As Abrams neared the intersection of 37th Street East Abrams lost control of his Dodge Intrepid, veering north and crashing into a concrete culvert. The force of the collision spun the spun the sedan where it came to a stop on the shoulder.
Abrams was severely injured in the crash and taken to Sarasota Memorial for treatment. Later that day at 11:28pm, Abrams died from his injuries.
FHP announced a crash with injuries on I-75 near University Parkway.
The report states that thirty three year old Robert Waldon from Valrico Florida was southbound on I-75 in a pick up truck early Sunday morning.
At approximately ten minutes before 2:00a.m. drifted out of the left-land and crossed the highway onto the shoulder. After driving off the highway Waldon completely lost control of the truck and crashed into a tree.
The collision with the tree caused Waldon to be severely injured. Waldon was transported to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol stated that the accident is still under investigation.
A Florida Highway Patrol report announced a single car crash near Osprey FL on state road 681.
The report states that at nearly seven thirty a.m. seventy year old Gregory Vahle was northbound on state road 681 heading from Nokomis toward the I-75 interchange in an Audi A5 sedan.
For reasons unknown Vahle turned suddenly to the right then over-corrected turning back toward the left causing the car to veer out of control as Vahle approached the intersection with En Theos lane.
The Audi sedan still traveling at speed, drove off the road and collided with a traffic light then crashed into a control box coming to a stop.
