A car accident at Bee Ridge extension and Heritage Oaks Boulevard proved fatal for one and resulted in serious injuries to another.
The accident occurred in Sarasota at the Intersection of Bee Ridge extension and Heritage Oaks Boulevard just before 8 a.m. Thursday when the driver of a Buick Century failed to see oncoming traffic when attempting to pull onto Bee Ridge extension from Heritage Oaks Boulevard and drove directly into the path of a Chevy 2500 pickup truck.
Florida Highway Patrol reported the driver of the Buick was Barney Radov and 89 year old from Sarasota. After the crash Radov was taken to Blake Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the pickup truck a 63 year old woman, attempted to avoid the crash by swerving and breaking hard but crashed into the left front of the Buick at speed.
The driver of the pick was taken to Doctors Hospital in Sarasota for treatment.
Florida Highway Patrol reported Motorcycle accident on Bee Ridge Road kills Sarasota Man.
FHP gave the following details of the accident, at around 3:15 p.m. a 2011 Suzuki motorcycle ridden by 26 year old Michael Hicks was traveling north on Swift road and according to witness statements, ran a red light at Bee Ridge Road.
A Dodge Dakota SUV was heading into the same intersection and crashed into Hicks.
James McFarland, a 33 year old from Sarasota, was OK but his passenger was taken to Sarasota Memorial for treatment of minor injuries.
Apparently Hicks was not wearing a helmet during the accident and later died from his injuries at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton.
Lanes at the intersection of Tuttle/Swift and Bee ridge were closed until 5p.m. while the crash was investigated.
Florida Highway Patrol reported a Sarasota man was in critical condition Saturday evening after being hit by a truck on Bee Ridge Road.
The pedestrian accident happened on the eastbound lanes of Bee Ridge Rd. when Bryan Petersen a twenty one year old from Sarasota was trying to cross the road, but failed to use a marked crosswalk. A Dodge Ram driven by Thomas Koon also of Sarasota struck Petersen as he crossed the road.
Petersen was transported to Blake Medical Center for treatment and remains in critical condition. Authorities have stated the accident is under investigation.
Florida Highway Patrol reported that three children and five adults were hurt during a car crash close to I-75 early Tuesday.
The car accident occurred when a late model Honda Civic when the driver decided to run a yellow light at the entrance to the Interstate-75 on ramp and collided with a Lexus IS 300.
Witnesses reported to FHP troopers that the light had been yellow for a while when the driver, Patty Jo Denney, 47 of Sarasota ran the light crossed in front of oncoming traffic and crashed into the Lexus. Both the driver of the Lexus and the five-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to Doctors Hospital for treatment. Patty Jo Denney was seriously injured and taken to Blake Medical Center, the two passengers a thirteen year old and seventeen year old only suffered minor injuries and were taken to Doctors Hospital.

Paramedics took 28-year-old Bradley R. Williams of Sarasota to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton after being struck by a vehicle.
Around 6 a.m. driver of a Hyundai, Jennifer Honea, 25 heading west on Bee Ridge Rd. turned into the driveway of McDonalds at 3828 Bee Ridge Road and struck the Harley Davidson while also turning into McDonalds, from the east bound lanes.
Honea was cited by FHP for violation of right of way.
A motorcycle and automobile accident resulting in the temporary closure of Westbound Bee Ridge between School Avenue and U.S. 41 is being investigated by the The Sarasota Police Department.
