FHP announced an alcohol related crash in Sarasota that resulted in 3 people being injured.
The crash occurred at approximately fifteen minutes before six O’clock in the evening as forty-three year old Richard Torrington drove his Hyundai Genesis northbound on McIntosh Road in Sarasota.
At the same time twenty year old Clarence Johnson and his passenger two-year old Nevaeh Ramos were southbound in a Chevy Malibu. As the two vehicles neared one another Torrington swerved out of his lane and collided with Johnson hitting the car in the left-hand side of the front.
The force of the collision caused Johnson’s Chevy to be forced off the road where is crashed into a utility pole and came to a stop.
Two-year old Ramos was seriously injured in the crash and airlifted to All Children’s for emergency treatment. Johnson was also seriously injured in the crash and taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
FHP troopers stated that alcohol was a factor in the crash and that Torrington who only suffered minor injuries, has been charged with driving under the influence
Tampa Police have charged 34 year-old Rigoberto Ojeda-Leo of Tampa with Driving Under The Influence of with serious bodily injury, after Ojeda-Leo struck and seriously injured a pedestrian at the intersection of 42nd Street N and Hillsborough Avenue.
The victim of the crash has not yet been identified by Tampa Police.

Florida Highway Patrol reported that eighty year-old Lee Fleming turned onto the westbound lanes of Clark Road at the intersection with Sawyer Road when he was hit by a Nissan Sienna traveling at speed on Clark.
The accident took place at roughly 4:45 in the afternoon when Lee Fleming entered Clark road from a green light on Sawyer Road. As Fleming drove onto to the westbound lanes of Clark he turned into the left hand lanes and was hit by a speeding Nissan Sienna mini-van.
The driver of the Nissan, twenty three year old Oscar Ovalles was traveling at speed down the westbound lanes on Clark road and ran the red light at Sawyer. As he sped through the light, Fleming pulled into the lane Ovalles was traveling in and the two vehicle crashed violently.
At the last moment Fleming saw the approaching Nissan and attempted to turn away but was unable to avoid the collision. The crash resulted in both Fleming and Ovalles being taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Fleming was in serious condition while Ovalles only sustained minor injuries. Police arrested and charged Ovalles with driving under the influence with serious bodily injury and violation of a traffic signal.
Charlotte County sheriff’s deputies reported that they have Adam Provencal a 34 year-old from North Port. Provencal allegedly was driving while intoxicated and was the perpetrator of two hit-and-run collisions while driving drunk.
Provencal has been charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing property damage and injuries. Two counts of leaving the scene of a crash, refusal to submit to a breath test and resisting arrest without violence. Further, Provencal has been denied bail and remains held in custody at the Charlotte County jail.
Police described the events that led to Provencal’s arrest as follows. Late Tuesday a vehicle was hit by a car with no lights at Tamiami Trail and Pembroke Dr. The car then sped away from the accident.
As police officers looked into that hit and run crash, a second crash was reported just a few miles away. This time a car crashed into a garage door at a home and again fled the scene.
Parts of a damaged Volvo sedan were found at both crash sites. Further on the evening police located a Volvo with damage at Viscaya Drive. When police approached the car Provencal fled on foot. Officers brought in a K-9 unit and Provencal was tracked down by dogs and arrested. Provencal was reported to have extremely slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol.
