Ellenton Hit and Run Kills Bicyclist

A late night hit and run collision between a bicyclist and a unidentified vehicle resulted in the death of the bicyclist.

Florida Highway Patrol reported the incident occurred on the shoulder of U.S. 301 approaching the intersection with 19th Ave East. at 12:30a.m. in Ellenton.

A silver vehicle with damage from the collision sped away from the scene after the accident.

The bicyclist identified as Daniel Mimbs a 26 year old from Bradenton was crashed into from behind on the shoulder of 301.

The vehicle in question left a headlamp behind after the crash and was identified as possibly being a Ford.

Mimbs was pronounced dead at Blake Medical Center and Florida Highway patrol offices have asked anyone with knowledge of the crash or seen the vehicle call them at 751-8350.

 

 

SUV – Pickup Crash Leaves Two Injured In Ellenton

FHP reported Tuesday morning that a two car accident resulted in both drivers being seriously injured and hospitalized.

The accident happened when the driver of a 1999 Ford Expedition that was stopped a driveway waiting for traffic to go by at U.S. 301 and 51st Ave. E attempted to turn left onto 301 but failed to yield to an oncoming 2010 Chevrolet pickup truck and where the two vehicles collided.

Both men had been wearing seat belts during the crash and were taken to area hospitals and FHP troopers stated that alcohol was not a factor in the accident but Perry had been sited for failure to yield.

Ellenton Schoolbus Crash Injurs 8 Students

59 school children riding a school bus en route to Virgil Mills Elementary School when it collided with a 2012 Ford focus. The accident occurred near the Buffalo Creek Golf Course on 69th Street East at Ellenton Florida.

The accident resulted in 8 students being injured with minor injures. Of the 8 injured students 7 were taken for treatment by Manatee County Emergency Medical Services to Manatee Memorial Hospital and one student was treated at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.

The Virgil Mills Principal Mike Rio also stated that 17 other students were evaluated at the scene but deemed not in need of medical treatment.

The students injuries were categorized as minor bumps and bruises and all students in need were thoroughly evaluated by EMS.

A statement from the driver of the Ford Focus, Daniel Newcombe, 21, of Parrish, indicated mechanical trouble with the cars clutch prevented his car from being able to stop in time to avoid the collision even with the emergency brake applied.

Florida Highway Patrol gave the following account of the accident: Newcombe was heading South towards 69th Street East. The school bus was heading west on 69th Street East. The Focus failed to stop at the intersection and turned left into the oncoming school bus. The driver of the bus, Tyeise Davis Evans, of Palmetto tried to avoid the accident but there was not enough time.

The collision of the right front side of the bus spun the car clockwise onto the shoulder and into a ditch.

Florida Highway Patrol said the Newcombe, the driver of Focus passed a roadside test for alcohol and will be charged with failure to yield the right of way.

Truck Accident Kills Madiera Beach Man

Tire blowout causes fatal truck accident on I-75 near Ellenton FL.

A truck driver form Madeira Beach died at the scene of a truck accident in Ellenton on I-75 the Florida Highway Patrol reports. The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. when the driver of the truck, Scott Hinchliffe, 46, of Madeira Beach, was driving on interstate 75 when a front tire had a blow out causing the truck to hit the overpass at Erie Road and violently turnover.

Mr. Hinchliffe was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the truck causing him to receive fatal injuries and die at the scene of the crash.

The violence of the crash also hurled debris onto the road way covering 3 traffic lanes. Luckily no other vehicles were caught up in the crash however the southbound lanes were temporarily closed and the truck incurred $50k in damage

Fatal Ellenton Truck Accident On U.S. 301

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that occurred in Ellenton.

The accident happened around 9:15 am near the intersection of U.S. 301 and 60th Ave. East, when a cement mixer truck overturned killing the driver.Traffic on eastbound lanes of U.S. 301 were temporarily blocked north of Interstate 75.
