Officials from the Sarasota Police Department announced a deadly crash on Fruitville Road in Sarasota Tuesday Morning.
The fatal accident took place prior to 8 a.m. when for reasons unknown, a vehicle heading east on Fruitville drove over the median and crashed directly into two vehicles heading the opposite direction.
A forth vehicle described as an SUV, avoided the collision with the wrong-way driver, however the SUV swerved hard to miss the crash causing it to collide with a tree.
One person was killed and four people have been injured in the crash.
Fruitville remains closed from Tuttle Ave. to Beneva Road as police and crews work to clean up after the deadly crash.
Officials from Florida Highway Patrol have said a man from Englewood allegedly ran a red light near the exit ramp of I-75 and Fruitville road causing an accident with serious injuries..
The crash took places just prior to 8:30 p.m. when thirty five year old Egor Klimantovich was driving eastbound on Fruitville Road in Sarasota.
As Klimantovich approached the intersection with interstate seventy five ramp traffic, witnesses stated he failed to stop when the light turned red.
When the drivers of two vehicles exiting I-75 were given the green light to turn onto Fruitville they proceeded unaware of the oncoming vehicle.
As the vehicles entered the intersection attempting to turn onto the westbound lanes Klimantovich’s vehicle slammed into the first vehicle at speed which in turn, crashed into the second vehicle attempting to turn onto Fruitville.
Klimantovich suffered serious injuries in the crash and was airlifted to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton. The driver of the first car hit by Klimantovich was taken to Doctors Hospital in Sarasota with minor injuries.
Troopers have stated they will be charging Klimantovich with no proof of insurance and failing to stop at a red light.
Florida Highway Patrol reported a crash with injuries on interstate 75 near the Fruitville Road exit.
The crash took place just prior to 7:30 a.m. as a box truck and a sport utility vehicle drove south approaching the interchange with Fruitville road. For reasons not yet released by FHP the box truck smashed into the rear of the SUV.
After crashing into the SUV the Box Truck drove off the side of the highway and crashed into a tree.
Nahshon Smith a 36 year old from Bradenton was flown to Blake Medical Center for treatment and 27 year old Derek Smith, a passenger in the box truck was also injured in the crash.
The driver of the Sport Utility Vehicle, Michael Yencik, a fourty-one year old from Lakewood Ranch was unharmed in the crash and none of the passengers were hurt as well.
Troopers stated charges were pending in crash.
Sarasota Police announced a woman was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Fruitville road near Lime and Shade Avenues shortly after seven in the morning.
Witnesses stated that the woman had tried to run across Fruitville outside of a crosswalk area and was hit.
The force of the impact caused severe injuries and the woman, only descried as an adult female, was flown to an area hospital in serious condition.
The accident caused the westbound lanes of Fruitville Road to be closed while police investigated the crash. Sarasota Police continue to investigate the accident and the status of the woman has not yet been updated.
Florida Highway Patrol reported a crash on interstate 75 near Fruitville Road involved a school bus transporting 50 students and three other vehicles.
The accident happened when the tire on a Chevy Silverado traveling on I-75 blew out causing the pickup truck and another car to slow down to avoid a crash.
However a School Bus with fifty students and two chaperones from Port Charlotte was unable to slow down in time to avoid rear-ending one of the vehicles. The car struck by the bus was thrust forward and in turn rear-ended another vehicle.
Fortunately no one was injured in the accident however one of the vehicle involved fled the scene.
The driver of the Chevy pickup 45 year old Mitchelle Barnes was given a ticket for no proof of insurance and driving with faulty equipment.
A single car traffic accident at an I-75 on ramp at Fruitville road in Sarasota has seriously injured the driver.
The driver of the Nissan, Angela Patterson, a 44 year old from Bradenton for reasons not yet determined swerved of the on-ramp of I-75 at Fruitville at speed. The Nissan Murano
After driving off the roadway the crossover crossed the grassy shoulder and careened from tree to tree before crashing into a concrete podium and running through a fence where the SUV finally came to a stop.
Patterson was taken by paramedics to Blake Medical Center in serious condition. Troopers form the Florida Highway Patrol, stated that the accident is under investigation and that charges may be pending.
An early morning car accident on Fruitville at I-75 blocked traffic in the westbound lanes.
Florida Highway Patrol reported the crash took place at 7 Monday morning and that one person was injured in the accident.
FHP has yet to release full details of the accident including the number of injured and names of those involved.
Police reported fatal motorcycle accident at Fruitville Road and U.S. 301 has blocked northbound traffic on 301.
The victim had been life-flighted to Blake Medical Center for emergency treatment. Police has as of yet not released further details of the motorcyclist’s injuries.
According to Sarasota Police the accident happened at 7:15 when John Hart, a 57 year-old from Sarasota was heading north on U.S. 301 when a gold colored sedan from the south bound lanes attempted to turn into a parking lot, but failed to see Hart on his motorcycle.
The sedan drove directly into the path of Hart causing him to crash into the passenger side of the car.
John Hart, 57, of Sarasota suffered serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to Blake Medical Center for treatment, according to the Sarasota Police Department.
The blockage on U.S.301 is not expected to be cleared until sometime after 8:15
Florida Highway Patrol reported a motorcyclist crashed on Fruitville Rd. in Sarasota Sunday night.
The motorcyclist was going west on Fruitville Rd when as he approached the intersection of Fruitville and Vic Edwards Rd when he edged into the eastbound lanes to pass an F-150 pickup truck driven by Michael McMurray.
The motorcyclist, Alva Graber a thirty six year old from Sarasota, collided with the truck and the force of the collision ejected Graber from the motorcycle and onto the roadway.
Graber suffered serious injuries and was flown to Tampa General Hospital. The accident took place after 9p.m.
