FHP announced an alcohol related crash in Sarasota that resulted in 3 people being injured.
The crash occurred at approximately fifteen minutes before six O’clock in the evening as forty-three year old Richard Torrington drove his Hyundai Genesis northbound on McIntosh Road in Sarasota.
At the same time twenty year old Clarence Johnson and his passenger two-year old Nevaeh Ramos were southbound in a Chevy Malibu. As the two vehicles neared one another Torrington swerved out of his lane and collided with Johnson hitting the car in the left-hand side of the front.
The force of the collision caused Johnson’s Chevy to be forced off the road where is crashed into a utility pole and came to a stop.
Two-year old Ramos was seriously injured in the crash and airlifted to All Children’s for emergency treatment. Johnson was also seriously injured in the crash and taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
FHP troopers stated that alcohol was a factor in the crash and that Torrington who only suffered minor injuries, has been charged with driving under the influence
Sarasota authorities reported a pedestrian accident with serious injuries on Beneva road.
The accident happened as sixty-five year old Mary Tognareli of Sarasota began to walk onto the roadway of Beneva Road just south of Treeline Road.
At the same time a Nissan Altima being driven by a female teenager was traveling on Beneva road.
As Tongareli entered the road she was struck by the sedan and critically injured.
Tongareli was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Florida Highway Patrol announced a crash with injuries near Riverview High in Sarasota.
FHP troopers are investigating an auto accident that took place near Riverview High School Tuesday afternoon.
The crash between a VW sedan and a General Motors Corporation Yukon sport utility vehicle happened are roughly 4:15p.m.
The collision resulted in the GMC SUV overturning, and at least one person with injuries. Neither the identities of the injured person, nor the other parties involved in the crash have been released.
An official from the Sarasota County Fire Department stated the injured person was brought to the local fire department for treatment.
Officials from the Sarasota Police Department announced a deadly crash on Fruitville Road in Sarasota Tuesday Morning.
The fatal accident took place prior to 8 a.m. when for reasons unknown, a vehicle heading east on Fruitville drove over the median and crashed directly into two vehicles heading the opposite direction.
A forth vehicle described as an SUV, avoided the collision with the wrong-way driver, however the SUV swerved hard to miss the crash causing it to collide with a tree.
One person was killed and four people have been injured in the crash.
Fruitville remains closed from Tuttle Ave. to Beneva Road as police and crews work to clean up after the deadly crash.
Sarasota Police announced a head-on crash near Honore Avenue.
The accident happened as an unidentified woman was driving on Richardson Road in the area of Honore Avenue. At approximately 3:30 in the afternoon she collided head-on with another vehicle.
The crash slammed the woman’s car backwards where it came to rest on the precipice of a steep drainage ditch adjacent to the Sarasota Football Club.
The other car was found near the crash scene and the condition of the driver has not been released.
The injured woman was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Officials from Florida Highway Patrol have said a man from Englewood allegedly ran a red light near the exit ramp of I-75 and Fruitville road causing an accident with serious injuries..
The crash took places just prior to 8:30 p.m. when thirty five year old Egor Klimantovich was driving eastbound on Fruitville Road in Sarasota.
As Klimantovich approached the intersection with interstate seventy five ramp traffic, witnesses stated he failed to stop when the light turned red.
When the drivers of two vehicles exiting I-75 were given the green light to turn onto Fruitville they proceeded unaware of the oncoming vehicle.
As the vehicles entered the intersection attempting to turn onto the westbound lanes Klimantovich’s vehicle slammed into the first vehicle at speed which in turn, crashed into the second vehicle attempting to turn onto Fruitville.
Klimantovich suffered serious injuries in the crash and was airlifted to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton. The driver of the first car hit by Klimantovich was taken to Doctors Hospital in Sarasota with minor injuries.
Troopers have stated they will be charging Klimantovich with no proof of insurance and failing to stop at a red light.
