A report by the Florida Highway Patrol stated a woman has died in a motorcycle accident in Manatee County late Wednesday.
The crash took place as an unidentified woman described by FHP as twenty years old and from Sarasota, was riding a Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on State Road 70 approaching the intersection with 56th Court East.
At the same time twenty one year old driver Chris Marcelin from Bradenton was stopped in the westbound median turn lane with the motorcyclist approaching from the east.
At approximately 10 P.M. Marcelin attempted to make a U-turn and drove his Infinit sedan directly into the path of the oncoming motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist who had been wearing a helmet collided with the car and was fatally injured in the crash.
Troopers have stated the crash remains under investigation.
Florida Highway Patrol reported a fatal accident on SR 70 in Manatee County.
Shortly before 4:00a.m. an accident on State Road 70 resulted in a large pile of sod being dumped onto the roadway just west of Betts road, blocking the eastbound lanes.
Minutes later twenty one year old Shayne Williams of Myakka City heading eastward on State Road 70 in a 1996 Ford Mustang approached the sod on the roadway in the darkness of night.
At the same time fifty one year old truck driver Barbaro Carabeo, of Valrico was driving a 2007 Mack Truck following behind Williams Mustang.
Williams unaware of the sod on the roadway collided with the road blockage and was brought to a stop on SR 70.
Shortly after hitting the sod, the Mack Truck crashed into the rear of Williams Mustang and forced the smaller vehicle another 384 feet down the road before coming to a stop.
Williams sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision and was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment, however he later died of his injuries.
Troopers have charged trucker, Barbaro Carabeo with careless driving.
Florida Highway Patrol announced a motorcyclist was killed in an accident on State Road 70.
The crash took place as twenty six year old Richard Sconyers of Bradenton was riding a motorcycle without a helmet eastbound on State Road 70 approaching 22nd St. Ct. E.
At the same time sixty five year old Russell Omens also from Bradenton, was driving his Toyota Camry westbound on State Road 70 also approaching 22nd St. Ct. E.
Shortly before 6:00 a.m. Omens attempted to turn left onto 22nd St. Ct. E. and drove directly into the path of Sconyers oncoming motorcycle.
Sconyers was killed by the collision. FHP cited Omens for failing to yield to oncoming traffic.
Twenty Four Year Old Eugene Williams was struck by four different vehicles while attempting to cross State Road 70 at roughly 10:30 p.m.
The accident happened when Williams tried to cross S.R. 70 after dark and was hit initially by a vehicle driven by seventy three year old Hildry Grace from Riverview Florida.
After being struck by Grace’s car, Williams was subsequently hit by vehicles driven by twenty five year old Albert Parente from Bradenton, and two other vehicles that fled the scene.
Williams died from his injuries.
Police have stated that alcohol was not a factor in the accident and they have asked anyone with knowledge of the other vehicles involved contact them at 941-751-8350.
Florida Highway patrol reported an early morning accident on I-75 involving an overturned tractor-trailer that shut down the northbound lanes from shortly after 2:15 a.m. until they were reopened nearly six hours later at 8a.m.
The crash on the freeway took place in Bradenton about one mile south of the Sate Road 70 ramp in the northbound lanes when the driver of a Freightliner tractor trailer, sixty one year old Donny Pannell, failed to maintain control of the truck.
The truck which was traveling at speed slid and rotated until it slammed into the concrete barrier on the west side of the highway. After smashing into the barrier it swerved back in the other direction, crossed all lanes of traffic again and crashed into the barrier on the east side of the highway, which caused the tractor-trailer to roll over onto it’s side blocking the northbound lanes.
Additionally, the truck was being followed by German Rodriguez, a 44-year old from Palmetto. When the Freighliner began to crash, Rodriguez attempted to stop from hitting the trailer but the was unable to avoid crashing into the trailer with his Chevy SIlverado.
Both the passenger in the Silverado and Rodriguez sustained minor injuries in the crash. Pannell , the driver of the semi also sustained minor injuries in the crash.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was cited for careless driving and the driver of the SIlverado was cited for driving without a license.
Florida Highway patrol reported a crash between a 1997 Jeep and a Manatee County School bus Thursday Morning.
The accident occurred after seven O’ clock on the 30th as the school bus which was stopped in traffic near the intersection of Natalie Way and SR 70 was rear-ended by the Jeep.
Apparently though the eighteen-year old driver of the jeep did apply the breaks to stop the SUV, the brakes failed to stop the Jeep before slamming into the school bus.
The bus was not filled with children and had just five passengers one of which was a minor.
No one was injured and no charges have been filed in the accident.
The Manatee County Sheriffs Office reported a man from Bradenton was seriously after being involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer Saturday.
The accident happened at 6 a.m. when a semi, driven by Robert Vycnk, a 46 year old from Bradenton was heading west on SR 70. As the truck traveled just east of Uihhlein Road a pick up truck swirved from the east bound lanes into the path of the tractor-trailer. Vycnk attempted to avoid the collision by steering onto the shoulder and into the grass beside the road. However the pickup crashed into the trailer on left side then came to rest after colliding with a fence.
The driver of the pick up truck, Nathan Bois was taken to Blake Medical Center with a serious injury to his arm and his passenger, Justyn Smith, a 21 year old from Bradenton suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the semi was not injured and due to his actions a more serious head on collision was avoided.
Manatee County Sheriff’s office stated that all parties involved in the accident were wearing seat belts during the crash and that test were being done to determine if alchohol was a factor in the crash.
The victim of the fatal crash on SR 70 near Myakka City that killed one and injured three has been identified by the Florida Highway Patrol as 8 year old Sarah Prouix from Bradenton
The girl was mortally injured after the car she was riding in was in a head on collision with an SUV. Police said she was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.

Sarah Prouix was taken to Blake Medical Center where doctors pronounced her dead. Serious injuries were also sustained by three other passengers involved in the accident including the driver and passenger of the SUV a Chevy Aspen, Devin Gilmore and Allison Gilmore from Arcadia. Melanie Prouix and Kevin Moore were driving a Chevy Cavalier and both were listed as serious condition at Blake Medical Center.
The cause of the deadly crash is not yet released but FHP has reported that Devin Gilmore lost control of his vehicle and swirved into the other lane directly in front of the oncoming Chevy Cavalier.
Gilmore will face charges of failing to use due care.
A fatal traffic accident killed one and seriously injured three others near Myakka on State Road 70.
FHP reported that the accident took place Saturday afternoon when a 2008 Chevy Aspen heading east on S.R. 70 driven by Devin Gilmore a 31 year old from Arcadia and his passenger Allison Gilmore, 29 also from Arcadia lost control of the car and swirved into to west bound lane. After entering the lane they collided with 1999 Chevy Cavalier near Curtis Road.
A passenger, Melanie Prouix from Bradenton, and Kevin Moore the driver of the Cavalier also from Bradenton, were both transported to Blake Medical Center. The second passenger in the Cavalier was killed in the crash.
Florida Highway Patrol have charged the driver of the Aspen with failing to use due care.
