Two Injured During Four Car Accident On U.S. 41
A serious auto accident on U.S. 41 involving 4 vehicles resulted in two North port residents being seriously injured.
According to the Florida highway patrol Around 3:30p.m near Palm Harbor Drive two drivers, (Terry Somes and George Powell of North Port) encountered a dog on U.S. 41 and stopped their cars. Both drivers tried to get the dog off of the roadway.
Unfortunately two other drivers (Cynthia Adams from Port Charlotte and William Leham from North Port) also on the south bound lanes were not able to to change lanes and miss the stopped cars resulting in a serious crash.
Both Leham and Powell were seriously injured in the accident. William Leham was take by ambulance to Sarasota Memorial’s North Port hospital. George Powell was taken by paramedics to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton.
A third driver Terry Somes was taken to Peace River Hospital for minor injuries.
FHP says charges may be filed pending further investigation.
