Rubonia Accident Kills Two Teens

Two teenagers killed and four others in critical condition from a single vehicle crash in Rubonia. The accident victims range in age between fourteen and twenty one years old.

FHP reported that all six occupants were not wearing seat belts during the accident.

The fatal accident occurred sometime after four in the morning on Saturday when the Nissan Altima they were riding in lost control on Bishop Harbor Road and ultimately struck trees and fence posts before coming to a stop.

The driver – Efrain Reyes Jr., 21, of Bradenton and four passengers were taken to hospitals including  the trauma center at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Tampa General Hospital and Manatee Memorial Hospital. All of the injured were in critical condition.

Fernando Alonso, 14, of Bradenton, later died at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton and his sister Rosita Palacios Alonso, 16, also of Bradenton, died from her injuries at Bayfront Medical Center.

FHP has an ongoing investigation determining if alcohol was involved.
