Car – Semi Collison Kills One and Seriouslly Injurs Two In Charlotte

A serious accident on U.S. 17 killed one person and seriously injured two others.

The accident involved a Kia Sportage and a Tractor-Trailer. According to the Florida Highway Patrol the accident happened just prior to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when the driver of a Kia Sportage, 53-year-old Stanislaw Kujawinski, was heading north on U.S. 17 north of Calle Bonita struck a semi’s trailer. The Truck had mechanical problems and was stopped with hazard lights on ahead of Kujawinski when he crashed into the trailer at speed.

56-year-old Walter Kujawinski, a passenger in the Sportage was killed in the collision. The driver, Stanislaw Kujawinski, was in serious condition at Lee Memorial Hospital.

A passenger in the sportage, 22-year-old Robert J. Leicht of Arcadia, was reported to be in serious condition at Lee Memorial Hospital. The driver of the Kia, was in serious medical condition at Charlotte Regional Medical Center.

Both the driver (Robert L. Sykes and Tonia D. Sykes) and passenger (Tonia D. Sykes) of the semi-truck were not injured in the accident.
