FHP Says Charges Are pending in Sarasota 50-Car I-75 Crash

Florida Highway patrol Troopers investigating the 50-Car Pile-up that took place on I-75 on the University Parkway overpass at Sarasota have stated that many of the crashes were the result of excessive speed and careless driving for the conditions.

In addition to riving too fast, officers with the FHP also said many of the cars were following much too closely to be at safe distance, and in some cases other drivers were not even paying attention to what was going on in front of them. All of this contributed to drivers not being able to stop in time to avoid colliding with the cars in front.

As a result charges are pending for many of the drivers involved in the 50 car crash of Friday.

A trooped spelled out that following another vehicle too closely is considered careless driving or failing to use due care under Florida law. As such our law firm is expecting many situations were many were injured by other negligence as well as a large dust-up between the insurance companies who have insured drivers and passengers involved in the 50-car crash.

FHP officials expect a formal and detailed report out sometime next week once they have completed detailed investigations for each party involved in the accident.
