Car and Pickup Truck Collision Seriously Injures Woman From Sarasota
A car accident between a Dodge Dakota and a Nissan Versa at Webber and Shade resulted in a Sarasota woman sustaining serious injuries.
The injured woman was trapped in the wreckage and paramedics were unable to free her for some time. After a half an hour the woman was finally brought free from the wreck and was air lifted to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton.
Florida Highway Patrol reported the accident took place at 1:45 p.m. when the Driver of the Dakota, 26-year-old Mitchel Grek of Sarasota disregarded a red light and crashed into a Nissan Versa driven south on Shade Ave. by Anya McCormick 18 of St. Petersburg.
28-year-old Gina Ruiz of Sarasota, riding in the passenger seat in the Dakota was seriously injured and taken to lake Medical Center in Bradenton while the Grek, the driver of the pickup truck was taken to Sarasota Memorial with minor injuries. Anya McCormick and her passenger, Lindsey Medeiros of Sarasota were also taken to Sarasota Memorial with injuries.
FHP still has the accident under investigation.
