Intoxicated Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Sarasota Man

Alleged Intoxicated driver causes fatal hit-and-run accident. Florida Highway Patrol reported the suspect of a hit-and-run crash was under the influence and has been charged with DUI manslaughter, fleeing the scene of a fatal accident and driving on a suspended license resulting in death.

FHP said the accident occurred close to 47th Street near U.S. 301 when the driver of a Ford Mustang entered the intersection, pulling onto 301 and was crashed into by a Mercury.

The Mercury driven by Siosaia Fonua, 29, of Bradenton was heading North when it collided with the Mustang. After the crash Fonua immediately fled the scene but was later found and placed under arrest by authorities.

The driver of the Mustang, Scott Parker, 55 died at the scene from injuries stained in the crash.

The Mercury violently struck the side of the Mustang also inflicting minor injuries on Fonua.
