Head-On Collision Kills Two And Injurs Two On State Road 64
Florida Highway Patrol reported a major crash on state road 64 Tuesday evening. The accident resulted in the deaths of Lisa Gunn, 50, from Bradenton and Nadine Hoffman, 56, from Sarasota.
Two others, Josh Hoffman, a fifteen-year-old and James Hoffman, 58 were seriously injured and flown by helicopter to Blake Medical Center.
FHP stated the accident took place near the intersection of Verna-Bethany Road and SR 64 around 7.pm. Apparently Lisa Gunn lost control of her Mazda sport utility vehicle and crossed into the lane that the Hoffmans were driving in, colliding with their Ford Explorer in a violent head-on crash.
The vehicles struck each other at the right-front corners causing them to spin violently. Fortunately all passengers were wearing seat belts. Florida state troopers are investigating if alcohol was a factor in the accident.
