Arcadia Woman Killed, Man Injured In I-75 Crash

Update on an earlier accident report…

Florida Highway Patrol released further details about a car accident that took place in Manatee County on I-75 earlier in the week. The serious accident has left one man in serious condition and proved fatal for a woman.

The victims were the driver and passenger of a Jeep, that crashed on I-75. The driver, Hector Gomez of Arcadia Florida was taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton in Serious Condition. The Passenger Maria Garza also of Arcadia Florida was killed in the accident.

FHP released the following account of the accident. After failing to negotiate a curve on interstate 75 the Jeep ran onto the emergency lane and shoulder. The vehicle struck a sign post at high speed causing it to rotate and crash into trees then ultimately a fence on the side of the road on it’s side, were it blocked another road, San Orbebello Dr.

Further investigation of the crash revealed alcohol was not a factor and both driver and passenger were wearing seat belts.
