Motorcyclist Injured and Pedestrian Killed in Port Charlotte Accident
Authorities reported a pedestrian-motorcycle accident that resulted in the pedestrina being killed and the motorcyclist in serious medical condition.
The accident happened on Tamiami Trail close to Melbourne Street when, at four in the afternoon, Ronald Sechel was crossing the southbound lanes of Tamiami Trail. Sechel apparently walked in front of a Honda motorcycle ridden by Port Charlotte resident Bruce Schmidt and was struck.
The force of the collision caused the motorcyclist who was also not wearing a helmet, to be ejected from his motorcycle and seriously injured.
Sechel the pedestrian was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The motorcyclist, Bruce Schmidt was also taken to Lee Memorial where he remained in serious condition.
