Violent Charlotte County SUV Crash Seriously Injurs Arcadia Man
Authorities reported a man from Arcadia remained in serious condition resulting from a car crash roughly two miles away from CR 74 on SR 31.
Florida Highway Patrol stated the accident occurred when the driver of a Ford Explorer, Edye J. Ruiz Vega, a 22 year old from Arcadia, veered off the road at high speed plowed through a ditch and launched into the air off of a concrete culvert. The SUV impacted back into the ground, rolled into the ditch and crashed into a fence.
Police said the man had fallen asleep at the wheel and alcohol was not a factor. Emergency Medical Services took Vega to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment.
