Mini-Van vs SUV Accident On I-75 Kills Woman From Port Charlotte

An accident between a Honda Odyssey and a Ford Explorer on I-75 killed a woman from Port Charlotte and blocked traffic for hours.

Florida Highway Patrol reported that the accident took place near the River Road exit when Sally Brock, a 56 year old from Port Charlotte was heading north on I-75 in her 2000 Ford Explorer when as the SUV was struck by a Honda Odyssey. Elani Caglioti, a 47 year old from Fort Myers was changing lanes but failed to see the Explorer in the right lane. The resulting collision at speed caused the SUV overturn violently until coming to rest on the right side of the roadway.

Despite both drivers wearing seat belts Brock was killed by injuries sustained in the crash. Caglioti managed to stop safely in the right lane and was unharmed. The crash caused the northbound lanes of I-75 to be blocked for hours while first responders investigated the crash and crews cleared the wreckage.
