Car VS Truck Crash Kills Woman From Punta Gorda
Florida Highway Patrol reported an accident in central Florida between a car and a tractor-trailer ended the life of a woman from Punta Gorda Thursday night.
The accident occured Thursday night when the woman, 28 year old Carol Maherg of Punta Gorda was driving a late model Chevy two-door south on U.S. 17.
As Maherg approached the halfway point between Zolfo Springs and Arcadia, Maherg swerved out of her lane and directly into the path on an oncoming semi.
The small two-door slammed into the rear axles of the semi-trailer, apparently smashing them off from the truck and continued until coming to rest in the southbound lanes.
Maherg was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities and the driver of the semi was uninjured in the crash.
