Crash Kills Woman From Port Charlotte
Florida Highway Patrol reported a woman from Port Charlotte was killed when she was ejected from her car during a crash on McCall Road.
The woman was driving a 2000 GMC Jimmy on McCall Road near the intersection of Fieldcrest Lane and apparently struck the curb with the right front tire of the SUV. The woman attempted to get the full sized SUV back under control by attempting to steer the vehicle back to the center of the road.
The driver however over corrected causing the vehicle to spin into the median. After entering the median the tires of the sideways sliding SUV bit into the turf of the median causing it to to overturn several times.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the SUV. The woman was taken to Englewood Memorial Hospital where she was declared dead.Officials stated the crash was still under investigation and it has not yet been determined if alcohol was a factor.
