Motorcycle Accident In North Port Seriously Injures Rider
A crash with injuries was reported by North Port Police Sunday. Officers stated that a motorcycle accident occurred between a pickup truck and motorcycle just prior to 8:00 p.m.
The accident unfolded as Hugh Gravitt a 29-year old from North Port was riding on South Cranberry Blvd. and approaching Ida Lane. In the opposite direction Fourty-two year old Stephen Smith was driving a pickup truck.
Smith attempted to turn left from Cranberry onto Ida lane and pulled out in front of the oncoming motorcyclist.
Gravitt had not time to react and collided with the pick up truck violently. Police stated that Gravitt was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte and was stable but suffered serious injuries.
Charges against the driver of the pickup truck are pending.
