Sarasota Scooter Crash Injures Woman
Florida Highway Patrol reported an accident involving a scooter and a car that has left one woman in critical condition.
The crash took place at roughly ten minutes after ten in the evening when Ana J. Muller Padilla was driving her scooter east on Clark Road in Sarasota and approached the intersection with Gateway Avenue. A Ford Mustang was also traveling east on Clark Road driving behind Padilla’s scooter but at a greater speed.
The driver of the Mustang, 28 year-old Ronda M. Rohde also from Sarasota, failed to see the slower scooter and did not slow to avoid a collision.
The Mustang slammed into the back of the scooter which ejected Padilla onto the roadway. Padilla had not been wearing a helmet during the crash and was taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton Florida wear she was listed as critical condition.
Rohde, the driver of the Mustang was charged with careless driving.
