Florida Highway Patrol reported a crash on I-75 in Tampa at the Fletcher Avenue exit resulted in one driver suffering critical injuries.
The Northbound lanes of I-75 were closed for over an hour as police and crews cleared away the wreckage of the accident.
Troopers stated that the crash occurred at roughly 3:20p.m. when Eduardo Villegas-Diaz, a seventy-six year old man from Brandon had been driving on the northbound lanes of Interstate Seventy Five and for reasons unknown swerved sharply to the right.
Diaz traveled right crossing all of the lanes of traffic and drove onto the median where he crashed into a tree.
The crash seriously injured Diaz who was taken to a local hospital for treatment. No others were injured in the crash.
The interstate was reopened shortly after 4:40p.m.
