Sarasota Hit-And-Run Leaves Three Injured

A rear-end collision by a hit-and-run driver injures three in south county.

Police stated that a fifty-eight year old woman from North Port driving a Cadillac was heading west on U.S. 41 in North Port followed by a seventy six year old from Englewood driving a Nissan NV200.

Responding to bad weather both drivers slowed  sharply as they approached the intersection of Tamiami Trail and De Leon Drive.

A following car failed to slow down and slammed into the back of the Nissan. The force of the impact crashed the Nissan into the Cadillac shoving it over the median and into the path of oncoming traffic. A woman from Venice was unable to stop before crashing into the Cadillac.

All drivers involved in the crash suffered minor injuries. The driver that slammed into the rear of the Nissan fled the scene and police as of yet have no description of the vehicle.
