Crash On University Parkway Injures Sarasota Pedestrian

An accident on University Parkway in Sarasota resulted in a pedestrian suffering critical injuries.

The crash happened at roughly 1:30 p.m. when a man from Sarasota was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of University parkway near the Lockwood Ridge Road intersection shorty after getting off a SCAT bus.

The man, twenty seven year old Brandon Barnes, was seen by witnesses attempting run across the road full of traffic when and was hit by a Kia SUV driven by thirty year old Diana Calle from Sarasota.

The crash resulted in Barnes being lodged under the SUV and the impact resulted in Barnes being critically injured.

Barnes was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment, charges have not been field.
