Tampa Truck Driver Cited After I-75 Crash In Venice
A semi-truck crash in I-75 near River Road in Venice delayed traffic and drew a citation for the driver of the Tractor-Trailer.
The crash happened as Tampa truck driver, 37 year-old Jerome Graddic was in the left lanes driving southbound in a Ford commercial truck past the River Road exit. As Graddic headed down he left lane in a construction zone, a nearby vehicle in the right began to hydroplane and slide toward the Truck.
To avoid a direct crash with the hydroplaning vehicle, Graddic swerved sharply toward the center median, then turned sharply to the right to keep from heading directly into the construction zone. As a result the trailer became unhitched and overturned blocking the roadway. Crews worked to clear the blockage for nearly three hours after the accident.
Graddic suffered minor injuries during the crash and was charged by Police with careless driving and driving with an expired commercial license.
Graddic was transported to Venice regional hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
