3 Killed In University Parkway Single Car Crash
Sarasota Police announced a deadly single car accident on University Parkway near DeSoto road and Old Bradenton Road.
The report states that at roughly 2:30 a.m. four people were westbound at high-speed in a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis. As the full-sized sedan neared the Sarasota-Bradenton air port, the driver lost control.
The sedan drove off the road and impacted with multiple trees, to force of the impact threw one passenger, Thomas Bentley from the vehicle.
The driver, twenty one year-old Wesley McCurley of Sarasota and two other passengers, twenty one year old Michael Duffy of Sarasota, and twenty one year old Dane Custer of Bradenton were killed in the crash.
Police have said that while excessive speed appeared to be a factor they are still investigating the cause of accident.
