Deadly 3-Car Crash On River Road Kills 3

Dangerous River Road in Venice Florida has tragically lived up to it’s reputation. Florida Highway Patrol reported a 3 car crash on River Road that resulted in the deaths three people from Venice.

The crash took place at roughly 8:25p.m. as forty-two year old Joseph Clark of Venice was heading southbound in a 1989 Chevy Van following a Hyundai Sante Fe.

Clark attempted to pass the SUV while both vehicles drove on a curved section of the road that was a no-passing section just north of the intersection with Winchester Blvd.

At the same time eighty-four year old Donald Case of Venice was driving his Chrysler Town and Country northbound from the opposite direction also in the same curved section of River Road.

The two vehicles collided head on violently. The force of the impact spun Clark’s full-sized van around causing it to slam into the Hyundai SUV and rolled over upside down.

Clark, the driver of the van, was pronounced dead at he scene by first responders.

Both Donald Case, and a passenger in the Chrysler mini-van, ninety-one year old Ada Cerrito were also killed as a result of the head-on collision. In addition to Case and Cerrito, two other passengers in the Chrysler van, seventy-three year old Constance Burrell of Venice, and seventy-five year old Wayne Burrell also of Venice were transported to Venice Regional Bayfront with serious injuries.
