Florida Highway Patrol announced prominent businessman and philanthropist Land Ringhaver was killed during a collision with a semi truck.

Local business man credited with helping to bring the Tampa Bay Rays and one of the original team owners was killed during an accident with a tractor trailer.

The crash occurred just after 8:30 p.m. in Palm River-Clair Mel as seventy six year old Lance Ringhaver from Apollo Beach drove southbound in the center lane of U.S. 41 in his Infiniti sedan.

At the same time thirty-eight year old Tampa truck driver Isbel Guzman was attempting to make a U-turn across U.S. 41. Guzman failed to complete the turn which blocked the oncoming lanes with the semi trailer.
