Moped Crash in Englewood Seriously Injures Rider

A report from the Florida Highway Patrol announced an accident between a moped rider and car has resulted in serious injuries.

The crash took place as sixty-six year old Englewood resident Thomas Knipe rode his moped to the Dollar General and entered the parking lot.

Just prior, sixty-seven year old Anne Roman from Moriches New York was southbound on Indiana Avenue approaching the Dollar General in a Toyota Prius.

Moriches drove into the parking lot and failed to see Knipe on his moped in time to stop. Moriches crashed into the moped sending Knipe who was not wearing a helmet to the pavement.

Knipe suffered serious injuries and was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. FHP has charged Romano with improper lane change.
