Deadly Crash On EL Jobean Rd Kills Port Charlotte Motorcyclist

Florida Highway Patrol announced a man was killed in a high-speed motorcycle crash on El Jobean Road In Port Charlotte.

The report stated that at roughly 7p.m. Tuesday night, seventy-nine year old David Smith of Columbia Tennessee was eastbound on El Jobean road with passenger sixty-nine year old Venice native Robert Kirk, and began to turn left across traffic onto Cornelius Boulevard.

At the same time nineteen year motorcyclist Nicholas Novak from Port Charlotte was westbound at high speed riding a Suzuki motorcycle.

Novak crashed into Smith’s pickup truck and was killed by the collision despite wearing a helmet.

After being struck by the motorcycle, Smith’s pickup truck continued on an slammed into a telephone pole.

Troopers stated that both Smith and Kirk suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
