Woman Thrown From Car In Crash On SR 72 In Sarasota
A woman was injured after being thrown from a vehicle during an accident on State Road 72.
Florida Highway Patrol detailed in a report that the accident took place in the early morning hours Thursday.
At approximately 4:30a.m., twenty one year old Rebecca Brito from Sarasota was just east of the intersection of High Hat Ranch Road and State Road 72 when she entered a sweeping curve in the road.
For reasons not stated in the report, Brito lost control of the sedan and drove off the roadway at speed. After leaving the roadway, the car collided with a tree which caused the vehicle to flip over. After rolling over the car continued on and crashed into another tree before coming to a stop upside down.
Troopers stated that Rebecca Brito had not been wearing her seat belt during the crash and the violent force of the overturning car threw her out the drivers side window.
Brito sustained serious injures as a result of being thrown from the vehicle and was evacuated by helicopter to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
