One Killed, One Critically Injured In Accident With Semi-Truck Near Arcadia
Arcadia Florida – A fatal accident involving a tractor trailer Sunday morning was reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened as thirty year old Sean Driscoll of Sarasota, and his passenger thirty-six year old William Mullady of Tampa, were eastbound on State Road 70, driving a Nissan Sentra.
At the same time a Peterbilt Tractor Trailer driven by forty-three year old Gary Farabee of Wauchula was heading west also on State Road 70.
At roughly twenty minutes before noon, both vehicles closed the distance between each other west of the intersection with North West Wuthrich Avenue. For reasons unknown Driscoll’s Nissan drifted out of it’s lane and into the path of the approaching semi-truck.
Farabee tried to avoid a crash by swerving off the roadway onto the shoulder, however the Nissan crashed into the side of the trailer at speed.
First responders stated that although Driscoll had been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash he was fatally injured in the collision. Passenger William Mullady was critically injured in the crash, however Farabee the driver of the truck was unharmed.
Florida Highway Patrol has stated that the accident remains under investigation.
