Cyclist Struck And Killed In Bradenton ON 5th Street East
MANATEE COUNTY 05/16/2018 – FHP announced a man was struck and killed while riding a bicycle in Bradenton Wednesday night.
According to the report the accident took place as 47 year old Jose Juarez from Bradenton was riding a bicycle 5th Street East heading north, just south of the intersection with 59thAvenue East.
At the same time motorist, 20 year old Torres Salvador from Bradenton was approaching in a 2007 Toyota Camry with passenger 21 year old Iyya Arjonaulla also of Palmetto FL.
For reasons unknown, Juarez entered to roadway and road into the path of the oncoming car, driven by Salvador.
Salvador did not see the cyclist in the dark and as a result the right front of the Toyota Camry crashed into the bicycles right side.
The resulting impact threw Juarez from his bicycle onto the roadway where he came to a stop between the north and south lanes of 5th Street East. Juarez was fatally injured by the initial impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Juarez was not wearing a helmet during the crash and the bicycle was not equipped with lights.
Torres Salvador was arrested for driving without a drivers license.
