Multiple people injured in dangerous highway collision on I-75 at Lee County

Ft. Myers FL – Florida Highway Patrol has announced a serious crash involving a 26 year old female from St.Petersburg and  passengers aged both 50 and 3 respectively were all injured in a serious accident on i-75 late Wednesday afternoon, along with a 35 year old male who was also injured.

The crash happened as a Man aged 35 from Homestead was driving a Tractor Trailer while northbound on i-75. The woman and her passengers were driving a sedan and were also northbound while in the left lane.

At 12:55 P.M the driver of the Truck Trailer failed to adjust to slower traffic speeds causing the right side portion of the truck to slam into the backside of the smaller vehicle. The impact of which caused the vehicle to be expelled onto the grass median and struck the front of the guard rail. The smaller vehicle came to a final rest facing west in front of the guardrail. The truck came to a final rest in the median with the right tractor resting up against the rear of the car.

The truck driver was issued a citation for careless driving.

In-Addition there was a car seat inside the car and the child was not properly seated in the car seat.
